Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and assist with annual consolidated reports. This involves preparing journal entries, note disclosures and performance variance analysis to evaluate the financials.
  • Assist with the annual budget process and quarterly forecasting
  • Prepare monthly HST returns, perform bank monthly reconciliations, calculate monthly asset management fees and review invoices to provide accurate coding as required
  • Manage the treasury process, including monitoring bank balances and borrowings, maintaining debt schedules, forecasting liquidity requirements, allocating debt/interest and preparing quarterly compliance packages, communicating any potential issues to management in a timely manner
  • Assist with preparation of investor related activities, including capital calls, distributions, reviewing quarterly investor statement details as well as maintaining the integrity of the investor records
  • Liaise with asset management and investment groups, providing necessary information as requested
  • Assist with the annual audit process as well as the preparation of certain tax files
  • Assist team with accounting system and process improvement initiatives and ad hoc requests as needed

Candidate Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business commerce
  • Actively pursuing a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory
  • 1-2 years of experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Real Estate experience is an asset
  • Experience using Yardi Voyager software is an asset
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and related notes, including ASPE and IFRS is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Suite with a focus on advanced Excel functions
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks and demands under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Team player with positive attitude and exceptional interpersonal skills
